GRADING POLICY UPDATE
Missed Lesson Policy and Procedure for 7th/8th Grade:
7th and 8th Grade Bands:
This year, we are handling missed lessons differently than in the past. Lessons are worth 50 pts. 30 pts for preparation/contribution and 20pts for performance/growth. If you miss your lesson, you will be required to show evidence of both in order to earn your points. You can do this in two ways:
1) Utilize homeroom or a period where there is no lesson to practice/work with Mr. Hunter on the material you missed. You must productively work with Mr. Hunter for 45 minutes to earn full credit. This time can be broken up over multiple days if needed. If Mr. Hunter is not available during a time you are, consider option #2.
2) Email Mr. Hunter for a specific musical assignment related to the lesson. Then utilize the Missed Lesson Flipgrid linked in Google Classroom to document your work on that assignment. Detailed instructions can be found on Flipgrid through Google Classroom.
Mr. Hunter will enter "0" into the gradebook if the lesson is not made up within a week of the miss. However, you can still earn back the points up until the end of the grading period.
These are the only options for making up missed lessons. We will no longer be using Missed Lesson forms.
The 2019-2020 school year is here! We are so excited to meet you and begin a wonderful year of making music! All band members will soon be bringing home our 2019-2020 Information Packet that contains our Grading Policy, Lesson Guidelines, Uniform Guidelines, Calendar, and T-Shirt Order Form. All students will need to have this turned in by Friday, August 23rd.
You can download the packet by clicking on the image to the right. You may have to disable your popup blocker.
We are looking forward to a great school year!

The Wauconda Middle School Band Program serves more than 200 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Wauconda Middle School. Bands are divided by grade level, though occasionally students will perform with a band other than their grade level. Each curricular ensemble meets daily. Band students also receive small group lessons in a rotating pull-out schedule. Extracurricular offerings include Jazz Band, which meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings during 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter, and the D118 Solo and Ensemble Festival, which takes place each February.
